1- Pilgrimage to Defend Life
Every year on the
anniversary of Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court decision that legalized Abortion
on January 22, 1973, hundreds of thousands of faithful citizens travel to Washington D.C.
to publicly protest the ruling made over 30 years ago. While on this journey we pray together,
learn, and join in the demonstrations all over the city. The weekend culminates with Holy Mass and
the Pro Life March that goes from the White House, to the Capitol, and ends
at the Supreme Court. McDonell
students and other teens from the Chippewa
Valley travel with
pilgrims from the Diocese of LaCrosse, led by Sr. Stefania Newell,
FSMSG. We travel by bus picking up
other Catholic groups in Wisconsin
on the way. We attend daily mass,
visit historical sites in D.C., pray at Planned Parenthood Clinics, and
obviously attend the March.

3- Steubenville
Youth Conference
Every summer the Franciscan University of
Steubenville Ohio puts on weekend long youth conferences all over the
country. In the summer of 2007 over
30,000 teens attended one 15 conferences across the nation. Conferences are held everywhere from San
Diego, CA to Atlanta, GA to St. Paul, MN and Nova Scotia, Canada. Steubenville Youth Conferences center
around invoking the power of the Holy Spirit through the Holy Sacrifice of
the Mass, Reconciliation, Eucharistic Adoration, and Praise and Worship. The teens also receive some Catechesis from
guest speakers and conference leaders.
There are entertainment and musical concerts provided by Catholic
Artists such as Matt Maher, Tom Booth, and Steve Angrisano. Our group from Chippewa went to San Diego this past
summer. We spent some extra time there
visiting some historic mission churches and other local parishes, shopping,
eating authentic Mexican food, and of coarse 2 days on the beach.
